Giving Back to the Next Generation of Legal Leaders
Partner

Co-founder Miguel Custodio returned to a place that helped shape his own legal journey this past Saturday, joining the UCLA Law Fellows All-Star Attorney Panel to share insight, encouragement, and advice with students aspiring to pursue careers in law.

The UCLA Law Fellow Program, run by the UCLA School of Law under the leadership of Leo Trujillo-Cox, Executive Director of Academic Outreach & Development, and Amanda Smith Lindsey, Esq., Assistant Director of Academic Outreach & Development, is designed to provide early academic support to high-potential undergraduate students and college graduates, particularly those from traditionally underserved or socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. Through a supportive and structured environment, the program equips participants with the tools they need to become competitive applicants for law school.

The program includes its Saturday Academies, immersive sessions held at the law school where students gain exposure to law school coursework, case analysis, and the admissions process. Participants also benefit from one-on-one mentorship with current law students and develop a J.D. action plan.

For Miguel, the opportunity to give back to this program carried a special meaning.

“I was a part of the Fellows program myself, and it’s great to be able to provide resources to aspiring law students,” said Miguel.

In addition to participating in the panel, CD Law added a memorable, personal touch for students by hosting an exclusive raffle. Winners will have the opportunity to meet Miguel, visit the CD Law offices, and build connections that extend beyond the classroom. Students also received license plates reading “Watch out. Aspiring lawyer here.”
