Ready or not, Christmas is just days away and the holiday spirit is in the air! Homes are lighting up neighborhoods with flashy holiday displays, fireplaces are aglow and the marathon of corny Hallmark movies continues. While children excitedly await Santa’s arrival, others prepare to celebrate the holiday season with friends and family. As we approach one of the biggest holidays of the year, we wanted to take a moment to remind you of some important safety precautions to take this Christmas.Keep an eye on young children and pets: Children can be extra energetic and excited about their new toys (especially after sneaking those leftover cookies Santa didn’t get to), so it’s important to keep a close eye on them. Similarly, pets can wander off and may get into things they shouldn’t, so be sure to keep an eye on them also to prevent accidents.Be mindful of potential tripping or slipping hazards: Wet leaves, snow and ice can create slippery surfaces, so be sure to watch your step and wear appropriate footwear. And if you’re in L.A., where the weather forecast is 80 degrees and sunny, you should still be cautious of tripping hazards by making sure your cords for holiday decorations are out of the way.Don’t drink and drive: It’s never okay to drink and drive, and the holiday season is no exception. Plan ahead and arrange for a designated driver or use a ride-sharing service if you plan on drinking.Be careful with decorations: Carefully read and follow the instructions for any decorations you use, don’t forget to blow out lit candles and be sure to turn off any lights or electrical decorations before going to bed.Still need to put up decorations? Don’t work alone! Here are some do’s and don’ts for rooftop decorating. We hope that you are able to find time to relax, unwind and spend quality time with those who matter most to you. Whether you are gathering with a large group or spending a quiet evening at home, from all of us at Custodio & Dubey LLP, we wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday.Miguel & Vineet
