Beer Truck Crash Closes 210 Freeway in Irwindale (ABC7)
Early Tuesday morning, September 30, a big rig crash on the 210 Freeway in Irwindale, California caused a major traffic backup and a beer spill that covered several lanes. The crash happened just before 3:00 a.m. near Vernon Avenue, forcing officials to shut down all westbound lanes temporarily.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded quickly. Video from the scene showed beer cans and full metal kegs scattered across the freeway. One of the trailers split open during the crash, sending its cargo across multiple lanes. Several passing vehicles hit the debris before crews arrived to clear it.
CHP crews moved the kegs and cans to the right lanes, but not before rush hour delays kicked in. Officials expected the two right lanes to stay closed until around 6:30 a.m.
