5 Pedestrians Hit by Vehicle in Possible Chinatown Hit-and-Run

Five people were injured Friday morning, September 19, 2025, in a possible hit-and-run incident in the Chinatown neighborhood of Los Angeles. Authorities reported that the crash happened just before noon, at approximately 11:38 a.m., near the intersection of Alameda and Alpine Streets.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to the scene quickly. Emergency responders transported four victims to local hospitals via ambulance. A fifth person declined medical transport, although the extent of their injuries is still unknown.

According to officials, the vehicle involved in the crash may have fled the scene initially. However, LAPD officers stated that the driver was apprehended about a block away and has since been taken into custody. As of now, no names have been released, and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Could This Be a Personal Injury Case?

From a legal perspective, this type of accident raises several personal injury concerns. In California, pedestrians hit by vehicles may have the right to pursue compensation if they’ve suffered injuries due to a driver’s negligence.

In this case, although it’s still under investigation, a possible hit-and-run adds further legal complexity. Hit-and-run accidents are taken very seriously under California law, especially when injuries are involved. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, those affected may be eligible to file claims for:

  • Medical expenses

  • Lost wages

  • Pain and suffering

  • Emotional distress

Even if a driver is caught and arrested, victims still need to protect their own rights. Insurance companies may not always offer fair compensation, especially in chaotic situations involving multiple people injured at once.

What to Do If You Were Involved or Know Someone Affected

If you or someone you know was one of the victims of a similar accident, it’s essential to speak with an experienced personal injury attorney who can help you understand your rights. Whether or not the driver is found guilty of criminal charges, you may still be entitled to compensation for your injuries and suffering.
