Recall Notice: Boar’s Head Deli Meat and Fresh Produce

Two significant food safety recalls have hit the news this week and may be directly affecting your household. In the midst of an ongoing, multistate listeria outbreak that has killed two people and hospitalized more than 30, Boar’s Head deli meat and fresh produce sold at Walmart and Aldi have been recalled.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA) announced that Boar’s Head is recalling 207,528 pounds of products. While sliced deli meat has been linked to the listeria outbreak, their products specifically have not yet been linked, but are being pulled from the shelves for testing while the outbreak investigation continues.

The recall affects ready-to-eat liverwurst products as well as ready-to-eat deli meat products that include ham, bologna, beef salami, and roasted bacon products. The U.S. Drug and Food Administration (FDA) announced that Ohio-based Weirs Farm Inc. is recalling more than a dozen vegetables, including cucumbers, green bell peppers, and parsley, as a preventative measure.

Weirs Farm produce is sold in Walmart and Aldi, and both companies have issued their own safety warnings regarding the recall for their customers.
